This year's Upcycled Snowboard Art Show was a banger!
Hosting community events is super important to us and we try do as many as possible. We host a lot of art shows every year, and this one is usually our favorite. Apparently, its a fan favorite as well because we had several hundred visitors come through to check it out! At one point in the night, there was over a hundred people in our shop at the same time (please don't tell the fire department)!
We all know snowboards create a lot of waste. The premise of this show is to help reduce that waste by eternalizing the life of the board by turning them into art pieces. All the boards in the show are made from old/broken/retired boards that were headed to the landfill. We get all these boards from various companies' warranty departments, and provide them to artists for free to use as their canvases. The artists are free to show off, sell, or trade their pieces. Boardworks operates this event entirely on a donation basis, with absolutely no cost or commission fee from the participants. This time around... the artists brought the heat! The show is not intended to be a competition, and we welcome all levels of artistic abilities. But with that being said, we saw some serious level up from last year's art. Everyone seemed to try and push each others comfort level, in the greatest way possible.
